Prik Nam Pla

Prik Nam Pla or Nam Pla Prik is a combination of Thai Chilies (prik), also known as “Bird’s Eye Chili Pepper” and Fish Oil (Nam Pla) is one of the condiments that are typically served with a traditional thai meal. This is a sauce that we used on our fried rice. This blows soy sauce out of the water and gives fried rice an extra kick of spice.

The Scoville Scale is used to measure the “hotness” of peppers. A jalapeno pepper is somewhere between 3,500 – 8,000 on the Scoville Scale. The Thai Chili Pepper is in the 50,000 – 100,000 rage. To put this in to a greater perspective, the Habanero Chili is in the next range up, 100,000 – 350,000.
