The Business End

One of the highlights of a recent trip to the DC area was a visit to the visit to the Air and Space Museum at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

One of the exhibits at the museum was the Space Shuttle Discovery. Being the oldest shuttle in the Space Shuttle Program, this massive machine spent a total of 365 days in orbit and traveled 148,221,6755 miles in space.

Space Shuttle Discovery set the record for the number of spaceflights. It was launched (and returned) 39 times. Along with being the shuttle that made the most trips, she was also the first shuttle back into space after NASA and the Shuttle Program experienced two horrible tragedies.
