After a soggy weekend of celebrating my daughter’s 10th birthday around the Smokies, as we were leaving the area, a rainbow appeared. I, along with a few other drivers, pulled into a nearby parking lot and all scrambled to grab our cameras.
Right Place at the Right Time
Going back a few hours, my family and I were at a cabin and were finishing up dinner and packing up so I could head back home, while my wife, her mom and some friends prepared for a hike up to Le Conte for a stay atop the mountain Monday night. Time was not my friend, as I had to drive back home with my children and get them ready for bed so they could go to school the next day. Things weren’t going according to my schedule, but as it turned out it was for the best (at least that’s what the photographer in me says). Because I was running behind, I was able to capture this beautiful sight of a rainbow (look closely and you can see the double rainbow), disappearing behind the cloud-covered mountains of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
