Turtle by the Creek

During one of my more recent visits to the Cherokee National Forest, just down the road from Bald River Falls, I found this interesting rock formation. If you look carefully, you might be able to see, what looks like, a turtle. His head is the rock that is hanging over the water (with the black spot, as the eye) and the other rocks to the right would be the turtle’s shell.

This is an HDR that I created using a technique that takes the finished HDR and the original properly exposed image and merges the two together by using Photoshop and applying a 50% opacity to the top image. This helps to tone down the aggressive HDR that many people are doing these days, and creates a more realistic photograph.

This shot was taken using a NIKON D5000 at ISO 100, f/22, for 2.50sec
