This past Sunday I had the opportunity to shoot a client during several performances at the East Tennessee Chinese New Year Festival. I rented a Nikon D800 from Lensrentals.com and was able to get some amazing photos from all of the different performances. I will be sharing more photos from the festival, along with other photos that I took using the D800 over the weekend.

During one of the performances, there was a group of little girls that were representing the East Tennessee Chinese School performing a group dance named “Happy Childhood”. It’s always a fun experience to see little children dancing and trying to keep up with each other. About half way through the dance, I noticed that out of all of the girls out there, one of them had black shoes on instead of the shoes everyone else were wearing.

One of the rules of photography is to break patterns. Seeing this little girl with her black shoes on, reminded me of this “rule” and due to my location and the lens I had on the camera at the time, I was only able to get a few feet in the shot. But in the end it worked, I like this photo and I hope you do too.

This shot was taken using a NIKON D800 at ISO 8063, f/5.6, for 1/2500sec
