I have posted several images from a trip up to the top of Clingman’s Dome that I took with my family and a few photographer friends from around this area. I remember it was very cold up there that mornig and we all got there very early in the day. My family and I had to get up very early to make it there before the sun rose.

As you can see in this image, the sky was perfect, that is if you like clear blue skies. For photographers, empty skies are actually very boring and typically don’t make for good landscape shots. Luckly from the parking lot, there were several areas where the trees rose just to the height of being nice to look at and not really in the way of the overall area. This tree made for a good foreground subject and the small clouds helped to create something more to look at other than an empty sky and a tree.

This shot was taken using a NIKON D5000 at ISO 200, f/9, for 1/100sec
