Negotiated Agreements Negotiated agreements are those that are presented by the Affiliate and that may contain language that is contrary to the relevant laws of the State of Wisconsin or that are not outside of our ability to comply with it. In such cases, the risk manager will endeavor to negotiate language changes to align them with the approved affiliation agreement. A standard contract is not valid for more than five years. Many departments, schools and institutions of higher education require or encourage students to have clinical or field training as part of the curriculum required to graduate. From a risk management perspective, it is particularly beneficial for the university department to negotiate a contractual agreement that clearly delineates the level of responsibility of the parties involved in accordance with our risk management objectives.
